Last night, we had everything arranged. The Ovaltine was set out. The slippers were warmed. The books were at the ready for an early night.
As usual, things didn’t go to plan.
The neighbours came a calling, and we were dragged kicking and screaming over to their place.
They filled us full of drink and a wild night was had by all.
At one stage, Herself and I found some white powder nicely laid out in the kitchen for the guests, so we had a good snort of that and it was great. [It turned out it was some flour left over from a cake baking session, but what the hell...]
I have vague memories of a sheep and a goat being involved somewhere, and I notice this morning that one of the houses in the neighbourhood has been burned down.
I just don’t understand all this fuss about New Year’s Eve.
Last night was just like any other night in this area.
Now, if only I could remember where I left my trousers……….
