Ho ho ho
Grandad January 3rd, 2011
I am in a reasonably good mood today.
It is a pleasent day and the sun is shining. It’s not too cold and I had a grand night’s sleep.
The main reason though is that all that fucking “festive” ho ho ho shite of the last couple of weeks of December is over. It’s back to business, people. OK, I know this is a Bank Holiday [I think], but Bank Holidays happen all year round so I can accept that. I like to sit at home thinking of all of you sweating away in offices. It’s one of the great benefits of retirement.
Normally I wouldn’t be too impressed with the first week of the new year as traditionally, the coldest part of the year has still to arrive. This year though it has to bean anticlimax after December. I mean to say, if January or February are colder than the stuff we have been tolerating, then we are really up the frozen shit creek without the proverbial paddle.
So, assuming the worst of the weather is over, then things are looking up. The snowdrops are up but not quite budding yet. The days are getting longer. Bertie Ahern is out of politics and apparently not running for the presidency [if the little shit had retired ten years ago, we probably wouldn't be in the mess we are in]. Fianna Fail are in their death throes. What more could anyone want?
In fact, I felt so good today that I decided to give my laptop a spring clean. I wiped the operating thingy and reloaded it. I’m not sure why. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. And so far, everything is running smoothly and a couple of wee problems I had been having have disappeared.
Happy days are here again.
