Photies

September 16th, 2011

So TT wants to know where the photies is?

I will be quite honest and say that there aren’t any.  Well, not that you lot would be interested in anyway.

I knew when we decided on this area that the camera wasn’t going to get that much use, as this little back-yard of France isn’t exactly noted for its scenery.  The Dordogne is a different matter entirely as it is full of incredible Medieval villages and towns, river views and weird and exotic wildlife.  This area isn’t really renowned for anything in particular and therefore the camera hasn’t been out quite so often.

We chose this area for two reasons.  We wanted to be far enough south to get a bit of warm weather and far enough north not to have to drive too far down.  On both counts, it’s a winner.

The land around here is very flat.  You can drive for miles without meeting even a slight incline.  The villages and towns are just typical French villages and towns.  There is little remarkable about them that is worth photographing.  Their value lies in the taste of the coffee and the warm [warm? Fucking HOT] sunshine.

So I could include a photie or two of our pet lizard but he is hard fo photie, being only about half an inch long and very fucking fast.  But I don’t think that would impress you?  Or could include a photie of the birds nest that swallows have built inside our living room? I haven’t a fucking clue how they built it, but it’s there.

Ah fuckit…..

TT.  Just for you….

Heh, that is where I live, the Dordogne and it is less than a kilometer from chez moi to the river Dordogne itself. You got it bang on in the description and the wine and cuisine aint half bad either.

    Johnnyvrf, I hate you…..
GD, Why the fuck would you take a picture of a pile of shite on the floor? Or are French birds disabled. Irish Swallows build their nests hanging from roof’s/ ceilings ya kno. Smart lil’ buggers.
Sounds like a great place if you are visually challenged.

I live south-west of Paris and I reckon that lizard’s cousin must have moved here a while back. Exactly the same description …he rips around the verandah here like nobody’s business

You’ve been lucky with the weather, GD, 25 degrees today. Mind you, it was shite in July and August. ..

Johnnyrvf – Whereabouts?  And if it was your garden I threw up in a couple of years ago – sorry!

Slab – Hah! Now that I look at it, it does look like a floor.  The white is the top of the wall and there is a wooden ceiling.  Try this as an explanation?

TonyS – So far the weather has been pretty good.  We have had a few dampish days but still a hell of a lot warmer [and drier] than Ireland.  According to XCWeather, it ain’t too bad for next week either

Patrick – Which France is that then?

how odd, sort of looks like something large a cat hocked up but then i thought the white was the floor and was befuddled for a moment

Just a little east from Bergerac and no worries I only moved into my place last november, as to being shit as P. H believes, right on, all the more for me!
Slab, thanks for the compliment, moving here was the best thing I ever did.

Just to expand further, I have been in this area for over 6 years, I only moved to this village last november, I married a French lass and have got intergrated, life here is much more fullfilling and can be lived on a for lot less than when I lived in the smoke.

I could use that fuzzy thing in the photo as an alternative pillow – or as an aphrodisiac.

Bonjour GD – just thought I’d let you know that your country’s rugby team hammered the land of Oz this morning – certainly took the wallaby out of the men in yellow …

Johhnyrfv – Envy is a terrible thing!  Of course you have a huge advantage over me in that you have a built in interpreter?!  In the meantime, you don’t mind if I borrow your house for a couple of months next year?

Ger – Fuzzy thing?  You mean the chimney breast?  The best of luck!!

    Brianf – Yup!

Cardi – I will take your word for it.  You know me and sport…………..
