I see the Climate Change Talks are all but over.

It was nice of them to hold those talks in Durban where they have nice high temperatures in December. I suppose they can try to convince themselves that climate change is a reality by looking out the window?

Most of their time seems to have been spent deciding whether they were drawing up a “legal framework” or a “legal instrument”. I suppose they have to justify all those massive expenses somehow and fighting over semantics is as good an excuse as any? Either way it is going to cost us all a shed load of money.

In the meantime, it is bloody cold here.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we had a couple of inches of Global Warming before Christmas.

I had better dig the snow shoes out….

OK, so another batch of emails from the Climate crowd has surfaced.

Am I jumping for joy?

Not particularly.

Am I scouring the mails for incriminating evidence?

I wouldn’t waste my time.

To be honest, I’m quite pissed off with the whole business of <strike>Global Warming</strike> <strike>Global Cooling</strike> Climate Change. It is my firm belief that if they found an email which categorically admits that the IPCC has been talking through its arse for the last few years and that climate change is a load of bollox, it still wouldn’t make the blindest bit of difference.

I have said this before, that man-made Global Warming [or whatever you want to call it] has to exist, even if it is a pack of lies. We have gone too far down the road to turn back. Countries are carbon-trading billions. There is huge employment in the alternative energy business. There are too many taxes being levied on your ordinary Joe Soap.

Does anyone honestly believe that they are going to hold their hands up and admit they are wrong? There would be utter chaos. Thousands of workers would have to be laid off, because the demand for wind farms would cease overnight. There would be demands for the removal of existing wind farms. Countries would demand their billions back and the ordinary Joe Soap would be out in the street rioting.

Even if it is categorically proved that man’s intervention has fuck all to do with climate change [which I firmly believe it hasn’t] then they would have to come up with some very plausible alternative explanation for all the carbon taxes which have been levied which would be an impossible task.

We have reached the point that Global Warming has to exist.

Even though it doesn’t.

They must be very happy.

Those people who believed in man made Global Warming must be jumping for joy.

By now, they must have seen the results from CERN on the CLOUD experiment. Though maybe they haven’t, as the mainstream media seem to be remarkably quiet about it. After all, this is news literally of global significance.

The relief must be palpable. The burden is off our shoulders now that it is pretty well proved that it is the sun that is controlling our weather and climate and not all those nasty CO2 emissions.

Now that CO2 is way down the list of suspects, they can stop this frantic switch to ferociously expensive wind generated electricity. They can revert to good old relatively cheap fuels like gas. There is enough of it to go around for many years to come.

They needn’t worry that all Australia is going insane.

They can even remove all those Carbon Taxes and all that Carbon Trading.

Of course, if I were a really cynical person, I would say that the CERN report will be buried and forgotten about, as they are making far too much money out of us.

But I know they wouldn’t do that.

Would they?

I presume by now everyone has heard the Al Gore speech?

In case you haven’t, here he is ranting on about Global Warming.

I have listened to it a couple of times, and each time I become more mystified as to how anyone could believe the idiot.

Al Gore has a very dangerous combination – a theory, a lot of money and a craving for self publicity. He produced that film “An Inconvenient Truth” which by dint of fancy graphics, scare tactics and outright lies, managed to con a lot of people thereby landing us in the crazy situation we are in now with all our carbon taxes and the other “green” measures.

In his speech he comes across as a petulant child who can’t understand that he is wrong. His answer to any criticism is to shout “bullshit” and that is it. He seems incapable of rational argument, and even worse seems incapable of understanding that his theories may come under scrutiny and that people will come up with opposing theories.

For a short while, Gore was hailed as the saviour of mankind and the Nobel Institute were even daft enough to give him a prize. Now that his theories are being disproved left right and centre his response is to whinge that no one believes him any more.

With regard to his claims of “bullshit” science, someone over at the Climate Depot site has neatly provided rebuttals to all of Gore’s points.

In the meantime, here is another piece of bullshit for him to add to his collection.

A week ago I scribbled a little piece about CERN and Global Warming.

I was accused of several things. I was told I wasn’t a climatologist or even a scientist. This is true. I was told that the science is established. I argued that one. I was told that the whole scientific community took an opposing view. I debated that one also. I make no apologies for regurgitating the subject.

Do you remember the Polar Bears? Do you remember how we were told that those cute cuddly animals were in grave danger of extinction because of the ice caps disappearing? My, how that galvanised the world and electrified the cause of Global Warming! Well, apparently their golden boy who originated this scare is now being investigated for “integrity issues". Oh dear, oh dear! This is indeed a blow against The Great Cause. However, I doubt that one snippet by itself is going to derail the Global Warming bandwagon, though it should please lovers of Polar Bears.

But what happens when one of the World’s largest scientific communities casts more than doubts on the integrity of the Alarmists? What would happen if NASA turned around and said that there were huge discrepancies between the Alarmists data and the truth? They have. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! Apparently carbon dioxide isn’t the great evil we thought it was. Apparently the Alarmists models are wrong. What’s worse is that this new evidence is based on accurate measurements and not just a hypothetical model or one of Al Gore’s wet dreams. I would imaging there are a few red faces around? They are still fighting a rear-guard action after The East Anglia fiasco, and now this?

But as I said before, this whole lark has gone too far. Governments can’t suddenly forget their carbon taxes and their carbon trading. They are making too much money.

Why do I get the impression that if young Johnny McGregor finds a dead seal in the Outer Hebrides, there will be banner headlines throughout the world proclaiming that the seal is irrefutable proof that Global Warming is worse than we thought?

But we won’t hear a whisper about NASA’s findings?

-oOo-

[With a large tip of the cap to The CIA for the above snippets]

One of life’s great intrigues is this Climate Change business.

First we were told that the world was warming at an alarming rate. We were given dire predictions about lands sinking beneath the waves and vast tracts of the earth being turned to desert. Unfortunately for the proponents of the theory this didn’t happen. Temperatures, instead of rising are falling. Undeterred, they simply changed “Global Warming” to “Climate Change”. Now it doesn’t matter what happens to the climate as all their bases are covered. Temperatures rise? Climate Change. Temperatures fall? Climate change. The only problem they have now is in proving that these changes are man-made.

This is a major problem as by now the world has cashed in on the scare. Businesses are springing up everywhere producing wind turbines, electric cars and other “carbon neutral” devices. The biggest business of all, of course is “carbon trading”. Every man, woman and child is now paying for this theory. All our fuel bills have gone up, be it electricity, petrol or gas and all in the name of saving the planet. What on earth happens if their theories are wrong? How are they going to excuse the fact that we have been ripped off? What are they going to say to the thousands, nay millions who were employed world wide in the “carbon free” industries? What are they going to say to the countries whose entire development has been hindered or halted?

Quite simply it must never happen.

But what happens if scientists provide proof that the climate is changing naturally [as it has done for millions of years, long before man appeared] and that the climate is in fact controlled by the Sun? Suppose for a moment that an eminent body of scientists ran an experiment that proved conclusively that cloud cover [which directly relates to temperature] is controlled by solar particles and not by Uncle Fred’s use of incandescent light bulbs?

The problem is that just such an experiment is being carried out. CERN is currently doing just that. This could spell disaster for the current theories so what are they going to do about it? Quite simply they have ordered CERN to produce the results but NOT to interpret them. This way they can “adjust” the figures to prove whatever they like. I can also guarantee that those results will not be put in the public domain.

In the meantime, the propaganda machine rolls on. I see the latest is that the BBC are trying to muzzle any dissent. Apparently if you question the Climate Change business you are a “sceptic” or a “denier” and therefore don’t deserve airtime.

After all, we can’t let the truth get in the way of a good story?

In the comments on this site yesterday, TT suggested that I was “anti-science”.

Considering that over the past years I have consistently thrown the mockers at Global Warming and the Anti-Smoking crusades, that may appear to be true. In fact, just the opposite is true.

In my school days, one of my favourite subjects was physics. I later went on to study physics as part of my third level course. So while I wouldn’t call myself a scientist, I do think I know a little bit about theories and experimentation.

The process in science is quite simple. You formulate a theory, and you then design experiments to test that theory. If the results of the experiment fit in with the theory then you know that you are on the right path, and if they don’t then you discard the theory. Simple.

Modern science however takes a different path. You formulate your theory and if the experiment doesn’t prove the theory you discard the experiment. The reason for this is simple – modern science is driven by cash and ideology, and has nothing to do with the search for truth and enlightenment.

This distortion of science seems to have become the accepted norm. I have seen advertisements for research where they have gone so far as to state the desired outcome in return for the funding. If you don’t find what they want you to find then you don’t get the cash. Is anyone going to find other than the desired outcome under these conditions?

In the case of Global Warming, so much has been invested that Global Warming has to be fact. Industries have sprung up on its back, taxes have been imposed and a multi trillion industry has grown. It is inconceivable that Global Warming could be false. Is any government or academic institution going to back research that proves it is false? The fact that many eminent scientists dispute it is hushed up, as it HAS to be true, whether it is true or false.

Similarly the Anti-smoking science has reached the status of a cult religion. To speak out against it is heresy. No doctor in his right mind dare claim that Environmental Tobacco Smoke is harmless despite very strong evidence that it is. Even the World Health Organisation is ignoring its own research and is declaring the argument closed. There is massive funding at stake here both from governments [via so called charities] and the pharmaceutical industry.

Science these days has become a democratic affair. Whether the arguments are right or wrong, what counts is the number of people who believe those arguments. We constantly hear such lines as “the clear consensus of opinion” and “the science is established”. No one dare argue the cases they will be pilloried and ridiculed.

I would just ask you to consider one little fact -

Once upon a time, the Earth was flat and also was the centre of the Universe. That was considered to be an “established fact” and to argue against either “fact” was an act of heresy.

Just ask Galileo.

We have a problem.

Apparently our climate could be heading for another mini ice-age. [Thanks Ranty]

This is very bad news for the Global Warmists as it can be verified by any amateur astronomer. Tweaking the figures isn’t going to disprove this one.

So now what? Having convinced the sheeple that everyone is murdering the planet by breathing, farting and burning incandescent lighbulbs, are they going to have to admit they got it hopelessly wrong?

What are they going to do with all those fucking useless windmills?

How are they going to justify all those carbon taxes that we are forced to pay?

How are they going to cope with all the lights going out, now that they are shutting down all those nasty CO2 producing power stations?

How are they going to admit that their Global Warming theories are not unquestionable after all?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Huston, we have a problem!

This is going to be very fucking interesting………

We have been having quite a spell of reasonable weather. We have had a few sunny days and it has been dead calm with the odd light breeze. As a result of this, we are having one of our regular blackouts, as the wind-farms haven’t been able to generate more than a couple of megawatts.

I am reasonably warm, as the new house has been built of hay-bales which are quite good as insulation. The neighbours didn’t fair so well last week however when their hay-house burned to the ground. I managed to charge a few batteries during the sunny days, but they discharged again after I boiled a couple of kettles.

The one thing that is bothering me is that I am fucking starving. There isn’t any food to be had anywhere. I blame the Local Produce Law which they enacted a couple of years ago that states that all food shops are forbidden to sell anything that is produced more than five miles from the shop. That’s all very well, but all the farms around here are growing nothing but rape seed and rushes for use as fuel, so the only way to obtain food is on the black market. I could travel a bit further afield to do my shopping but the battery in the car is flat yet again. The fucking thing only seems to last about twenty miles before it needs a recharge, and then of course there is no electricity to recharge it.

I have taken to buying those old car batteries. It is illegal of course because there is nowhere to dispose them when they run flat. I have a mountain of the damned things filling the garden at the moment, and am thinking of building an extension out of them, just to clear some space.

There is a rumour doing the rounds that we are to have some windy days over the coming week or two. That would normally cheer me a bit as at least I could boil a kettle to have a cuppa, but now there is that new law that states that domestic users can only use electricity when there is none, because if there is power, then it all has to be given to industry and the like. In the last four months, the factories have been up and running for about twenty days. No wonder the shelves are bare.

The great irony is that the directorate in the United States of Europe have been introducing all these draconian measures for the last few years to save the planet and so far it hasn’t made the blind bit of difference to World Climate or anything else for that matter. All they have done is to make life miserable. Because of their complete lack of success they are talking about introducing new laws next month that will make euthanasia compulsory for the over forties as they now reckon that it is our exhaled breath that is causing this mythical Global Warming.

I would light up and relax with a nice pipe-full of baccy but the only place left where we can smoke is in a designated one acre field to the west of Dingle.

How I wish I was back in 2011……

I love this day.

For me, the Winter Solstice is the highlight of a dreary winter, as it is the day when it stops getting darker each evening. At 11:38pm tonight, the sun will start its slow but inexorable climb back up the heavens. Each evening I shall rejoice in the fact that days are getting longer.

Normally we would still have the worst of the winter excesses ahead of us, as January and February are usually the worst months for weather. It is going to be interesting to see what this winter can throw at us as if it is going to get worse, then fun and games shall abound. As I write this, Global Warming is once again falling – we have had a couple of inches of it since I got up. Once again, records are being broken on successive nights as the temperatures fall lower and lower. If the worst is yet to come then it shall be interesting to say the least.

Tonight I shall raise a glass to celebrate this day of days.

I doubt I’ll bother dancing naked in the garden.

Too fucking cold.
