It really pisses me off when someone claims they have a right to something simply because of their race, colour, creed or whatever.

A school in Clonmel has a perfectly reasonable entrance qualification – they give preference to the children of past pupils. There is nothing wrong with that. Apparently they turn down around forty applications a year, which is tough on the applicants, but that’s life.

Then along come the Knackers.

They are turned down along with the other thirty nine, and immediately start hollering about discrimination.

Even worse, some fucking smart arse encourages them to bring a court case against the school, which they did, and lost. They then appeal to the High Court. And lost. Now someone has to pay for those court cases, and it’s unlikely we’ll see the Knackers volunteering, so it’s just a further waste of my taxes.

If minorities want equal treatment, then that is fine by me. I will respect any minority provided they behave like any other sector of society.

But the Knackers seem to think they are more equal than others.

They can go fuck themselves.

I woke up this morning.

This was a big surprise as I didn’t expect to. I knew the world was going to end yesterday so I was fully resigned to the idea that today I would be in Heaven, Hell, Milton Keynes or somewhere else where the dead go.

So when Sandy woke me this morning with a particularly liquid face-wash my first thought was that I must be in Hell. But maybe that was just the aftereffects of Sandy’s breath.

There is only one conclusion I can come to – that I am dead, and the Afterlife is exactly the same as the previous one. But if this is Heaven, how come Herself hasn’t been replaced by Sharon? Or if it’s Hell then why is Herself moaning about the chill? None of it adds up. It’s certainly not Milton Keynes as the view out the window is just the same.

Is there anyone out there who can tell me where I am?

So TT wants to know where the photies is?

I will be quite honest and say that there aren’t any. Well, not that you lot would be interested in anyway.

I knew when we decided on this area that the camera wasn’t going to get that much use, as this little back-yard of France isn’t exactly noted for its scenery. The Dordogne is a different matter entirely as it is full of incredible Medieval villages and towns, river views and weird and exotic wildlife. This area isn’t really renowned for anything in particular and therefore the camera hasn’t been out quite so often.

We chose this area for two reasons. We wanted to be far enough south to get a bit of warm weather and far enough north not to have to drive too far down. On both counts, it’s a winner.

The land around here is very flat. You can drive for miles without meeting even a slight incline. The villages and towns are just typical French villages and towns. There is little remarkable about them that is worth photographing. Their value lies in the taste of the coffee and the warm [warm? Fucking HOT] sunshine.

So I could include a photie or two of our pet lizard but he is hard fo photie, being only about half an inch long and very fucking fast. But I don’t think that would impress you? Or could include a photie of the birds nest that swallows have built inside our living room? I haven’t a fucking clue how they built it, but it’s there.

Ah fuckit…..

TT. Just for you….

Today was a Which or Weather Day.

I was pottering around this morning and decided to try the Interweb for a drop of a weather forecast. The Interweb decided it was having a day off. I could see it was there but I couldn’t connect. Would I see about getting it fixed? Would I leave it until later? Did it worry me? Did it, fuck!

We went for a bit of a drive. It was a real scorcher of a day, with ne’er a cloud in the sky and the temperatures reaching levels that would have Irish farmers writing to the papers [They always complain if it's too hot, too cold, too wet or too dry. They just are professional complainers].

We stopped off in a couple of towns and ended up in a wee spot called Vihiers where the local cafe proprietress couldn’t do enough for us because we are Irish. I gather she ain’t too fond of the English. *cough*

We got back latish and the owner of the place here was wandering around. He has been trying to entice us to use the indoor heated pool, and each day he ratchets up the temperature by a couple of degrees until we agree to have a swim. Apparently it’s now at 30C. Heh! Why do I think of lobsters?

Just as he was leaving, I remembered the Interwebby thing and I mentioned it to him. I told him to reboot his Wifi. There may have been a glitch in the translation somewhere as he gave me a funny look. Leastwise he fixed the problem on his own initiative by rebooting the Wifi. Why do I bother?

And the weather tomorrow can basically be summed up in two words.

Fucking sweet.

In the early hours this morning, I dropped by the Devil’s Kitchen to see what’s cooking.

His latest article had a link at the bottom that intrigued me, so I had a look.

It was the greatest load of bollox I have ever read, bar none.

“Scientists” are now suggesting that Aliens may drop by and eradicate Earth because our Global Warming proves we may be a threat to other life forms.

I shouldn’t have written that last sentence. I have just wet myself laughing again.

So NASA seriously has a group discussing how we should treat our first Alien Encounter? How can anyone even remotely imagine what that would be like?

Let’s just sit for a moment and contemplate the life forms that exist on Earth. Sperm wales? Bacteria? Toadstools? Humming birds? Cacti? Have those anything in common? Of course they have – they are all life forms that happily exist on Earth. So if we have such diversification on one tiddly planet, how can anyone even remotely hope to predict what an Alien life form would be like?

Presumably these scientists are paid to sit around talking such utter shite? Their time would be better spent watching re-runs of Star Trek or Dr Who. Or maybe that’s what they are doing anyway, for inspiration?

A fucking five year old could do a better job.

And TT wonders why I hold “experts” in such high contempt?

I think I have read most, if not all of his books.

One of the things I have learned about the legal system is that the primary method of defence is attack. No matter how guilty the accused is, he tries to get off by discrediting the primary witness. Whether he is a Mafia Boss or a leading politician, all he has to do is to discover one little aspect of the witness’ life and blow it out of all proportion. So a quick joint twenty years ago means the witness is a drug dealer and the slime-ball gets off because the testimony is corrupted. Or whatever.

Dirty but probably effective.

-oOo-

I wonder if Dominique Strauss-Kahn reads John Grisham’s books?
